PASTOR MIKE’S MEDITATIONS

April 2020

As we enter into April and seek to maintain our connection as a church through such unique means as live-stream worship services and Zoom Growth Group gatherings, we are seeking to aim to engage in all of the important parts of our weekly worship services, stay in community together, and look for ways to love others and share the good news of Jesus.   We need to affirm and proclaim the reality and power of the resurrection of Jesus now more than ever.  He is the hope of the world at this time and at all times.  So, while our celebration of the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday may look differently this year, the truth that it occurred and this it is our source of hope does not.  We encourage you to join us for our live stream Easter Sunday Services at 9 am & 10:30 am on April 12th and invite friends, family, and neighbors to join us from where they are.

We also want you to know that in this season of rapid change, our church is providing ministry in new ways each day by offering: care (call our care line at 530-346-3984) online prayer support through our website and caring calls from our deacons and other caring ministers, online worship services, children’s ministry activity kits you can pick-up from church and kids can do from home, other online resources to support spiritual growth and more. We are facilitating children’s, youth, and family ministry as well as Growth Groups through zoom meetings to support smaller group gatherings, we also continue to support our local and global missionaries and meet the needs of our church family and our community in any way we can. We also encourage your own creativity in how Christ would call you to connect with others and serve his missional purposes during this season.

One of those important elements of being a disciple of Jesus is the call to generosity in giving our offering. Our financial gifts support what God is doing at Sierra Pres. and make ministry possible every day of the year.  All of these things require financial resources. I encourage you to make a gift to support the ministry and mission of Sierra Presbyterian Church.

Thank you for being a part of what God is doing in and through our church during this unique season.  I look forward to celebrating the resurrection of Jesus with you through our live stream service on Easter Sunday and finding other creative ways for us to connect and engage in Christ’s mission together over the course of this month.

With You on the Journey,

Pastor Mike

Our Unsung Servant for the month is Charles Erion! Charles serves as our Elder for Care.  As a caring minister he makes calls and visits and loves praying for people.  He is also a beloved Bible teacher who teaches a regular class on Wednesday afternoons and occasionally for Adult Spiritual Development on Sunday mornings.  We are thankful to God for Charlie!
